ABOUT

Wind Meadows Corporation (WMC) is a peaceful residential homeowner association community, located on 250 acres in the beautiful Village of Wind Point, Wisconsin. The WMC development is home to 316 home owners, consisting of 148 single family homes and 168 condominium style homes. Wind Meadows is situated in a parklike setting with a wooded landscape and Meadow Lake. The lake is approximately 17 acres based on satellite imagery and allows for members only fishing, kayaking and/or canoeing. Properties are located on low traffic cul-de-sacs and courts. Residents of WMC are a diverse mix of people who are community minded, compatible, mutually supportive, creative and unique individuals.

The community has shared ownership of the common land and common facilities. Our amenities include a heated outdoor pool, four tennis courts, walking/bike paths, plenty of green space with a lake, and a leisure center with a party room available for rent. WMC is professionally managed on-site. We are neighbors to Lake Michigan, The Prairie School, The Wind Point Lighthouse, Shoop Park Golf Course and Wingspread.

WMC was created as a non-stock, non-profit corporation to own and maintain all the open spaces, maintain and operate the Leisure Center, exert architectural control and administer the budgetary financial, and operational expenses of WMC. These functions are carried out under the direction of the Board of Directors of the Corporation and its officers with the help of several resident member committees and the services of a professional association management firm.

The organization of WMC is based on a concept of Parcel Service Areas (PSA) which are roughly equal in geographic area and with similar style. There are eight (8) PSA’s. Each area has an elected representative (some with two or three) serving as a representative on the Board of Directors. Financially, each PSA has their own budget and bank accounts.

As a resident, we encourage you to participate in the several committee opportunities or activities sponsored WMC residents can be proud of our beautiful community. We sincerely hope this site makes Wind Meadows an even better place to live.

HISTORY

In 1965 Johnson Wax Development Corporation envisioned a Planned Urban Community on a 250 acre parcel originally owned by the John Urhausen Family. This land was considered a finely situated, choice suburban plot in Wind Point. The idea was to structure, build and sustain excellence in environment, economic stability and aesthetic values. Johnson Wax felt that a development of the character of “Wind Meadows” parcel would enhance Racine’s national reputation as a fine community and an ideal place to work and live. S. C. Johnson & Son provided residents of Wind Point a 30 page proposal in September of 1965 describing the project. The 1st phase of a 12 million dollar project was presented to the Village of Wind Point and approved in 1966. The concept became a visible product of expert planning and was incorporated in 1975. Wind Meadows remains a place, an atmosphere, a way of life reflective of the quality of life styles, objectives, environmental concerns and tastes of its residents.

TESTIMONIALS

"As new residents to Wind Meadows, one of the truly awesome “features” of living here is the serenity. Each time we arrive in the neighborhood we feel like we’ve left the world behind and “gone on vacation”. Our house, the trees, the lake, the people and the wildlife … all make us feel like we have found a peaceful retreat we get to visit every day. It is an incredibly special feeling and place"

- Chris & Krista Leberfing

“I grew up on the Northside but after returning to Racine I spent 26 years in West Racine.  The moment I had the opportunity to move to Wind Meadows, I leapt at the chance.  It’s a breath of fresh air with friendly people and every convenience I need.”

- Marsha Radewan Connet

"We have lived in Wind Meadows for 19 years and on Ironwood Court for 14 of them. We enjoy the peace and quietness of the area, the wildlife, the beautiful lakefront, walking, trails and the Leisure Center where we have held and attended many wonderful gatherings with family and friends. We also love to kayak and canoe and have spent many hours paddling Lake Meadow. Over the years our neighbors have become wonderful friends and WMC overall has strong community ties"
